Sustainability: This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
Drying: Maple is kiln dried until it reaches a moisture level of 6%.
Workability: It is easy to work with maple, using either hand or machine tools, although it does burn if machined with high speed cutters. It turns, glues, and finishes well. Maple can easily be stained and oiled.
Maintenance: Depending on the foot traffic, maple floors will need to be sanded and sealed periodically.
Sustainable: The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) does not list maple in its appendices. The Forest Legality Initiative also states that maple can be exported and traded internationally. International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN) does not list maple as an endangered species.
