Corpus Christi Texas Ipe, Cumaru & Other Tropical Hardwoods

At Brazilian Lumber, we specialize in importing tropical hardwood and distributing Marine Grade Lumber used in outdoor applications as well as the distribution of composite decking and specialized hardware and oils. We have everything needed for building or refinishing decks, docks, boardwalks, fences, cladding, and siding.

Ipe (pronounced “ee-pay”), also called Brazilian walnut, is strong and naturally resistant to rot, abrasion, weather, and insects. It is almost twice as dense as most woods and up to five times harder. It is medium to darker brown in color. Ipe decking is an excellent choice for the Corpus Christi climate and for creating a wonderful exotic hardwood deck that gives lasting beauty year after year.

Ipe 1x4 StandardIpe (pronounced ee-pay) is one of the densest hardwoods available for outdoor construction.  It is very dense (in fact it sinks in water), it has the same fire rating as concrete and steel, and it is mildew and decay resistant.  Its denseness and natural oils make it virtually impenetrable to insects (so insect deterioration is not an issue).
