Workability: Redwood is easy to work with and can be glued, nailed, and screwed easily. Hand tools and machinery can be used.
Maintenance: The amount of maintenance will depend on the sun exposure. A redwood deck should be cleaned and resealed every one to two years depending on where it is located.
Preservation: A good UV sealer or oil which penetrates the redwood will help protect it from environmental elements and should be enough to prevent deterioration. Yearly deck maintenance including washing and resealing will help maintain the wood in top condition.
Sustainability: California redwood comes from forests that meet California’s sustainability laws. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) does not list California Redwood in its appendices. Brazilian Lumber, LLC meets high standards for social, economic and environmental responsibility. We monitor and document chain of custody of all our hardwood, we are Lacy Act compliant, IBAMA certified, and provide FSC certified options.
